Ahh Spring....or is it?

There is nothing that says or smells rather like Spring to me than the smell of burning wood. I know you are asking yourself is she crazy? I am, but the smell of burning wood here means that Spring is coming. This is when the orchard farmers are pruning their trees and burning big piles of branches. I love that smell. As soon as Spring came here the last couple of weeks it is sadly gone again. As I am typing this post I look out the window and see SNOW! Lots of it too... Dang! Please bring back the smell of burning wood, the kids frolicking outside, bikes out, sidewalks filled with colorful creations, and Slurpee's. PLEASE!!!

Draper Temple~

We had the opportunity to go through the Draper Temple this past Saturday. It is a very pretty temple. It has a lot of beautiful wood from Africa and amazing marble from Italy. I have to laugh at Jesse and I we were admiring the moldings, wallpaper, marble, murals. and the furniture. Maybe we should have been admiring "other" things..:) We both said that we are really proud to be Latter Day Saints and what a wonderful church we belong to. We both actually felt the spirit very strong at the same time. It was when they show you a little video explaining the temple and a little bit of history about our church. Jeffrey R. Holland was speaking of how he imagined how wonderful Heaven would be and then he got emotional and said how he couldn't imagine being there without his wife and his kids by his side. What a wonderful testimony he has.
It was the last day of the open house and so as you can imagine there were a ton of people there. We had to wait for the buses to take us up to the temple, and that was about an hour wait. Sophie was wondering why I didn't have the church bag and why she couldn't color. I had to tell her that even though it looked like church we weren't at church. They started to get restless, I wasn't prepared to have to wait that long so I had no back ups. BUT I did have my purse....so out came gum, cards, pens, and the camera. (hoping to take a wonderful family picture at the temple, notice the word hoping) As we were in the temple Dylan said to me, "Now Mom, why are we here again?", I said it isn't very often that you get to see the inside of a temple and that it will probably be about 8 years before he can go inside again. Then I told him my boring story of how I remember going through the Jordan River Temple when I was seven and I had to wear booties over my shoes and I still remember it now. I had the feeling that he was understanding it a little more. After we were done I asked the kids what was there favorite part and they both said that the cookies and water at the end was the best part....So we tried, I hope they will remember....It was a fun day...To follow are some photo's by Dylan...notice there aren't any wonderful family photos by the temple ohh well maybe next time...

The Question~

Ok,
We have had "the question" come up a couple of times in the past, but we have always gotten out of it.... Dylan asked me how long was it before Grandma in Arizona saw him after he was born, I told him a couple of weeks, then we talked about the rest of the family and how long it was for each of them and so on....and then Sophie says how do the babies get out of your tummy? Dylan chimed in and said you just push them out through your belly. Sophie then says out your belly button? I told her No, and then she said well then where mama????? Um, I am more than willing to go there when the time is right but for now I don't want to go there.....So I said Daddy, do you want to take this one? Or course he refused...So as I was articulating my thoughts on the perfect thing to say without giving too much information, Sophie says I'm done with dinner mama, love you, and got down from her chair and ran off.....yew!!!!! Sophie and the number 4~

Sophie is obsessed with turning four. Everyday, even several times a day I get the question, "Mama, am I four yet?" and everytime I tell her, "not yet!" I used to tell her that she will turn four in the Spring. But with all of this warm weather we have been having she thinks it's Spring already. I have to tell her that it's not quite Spring yet and she is still three. She asked me the other day why is Dylan older than her, and I tried to explain to her that Dylan was born first and so he will always be her big brother. Well she wasn't to happy about that, she wants to be older. What am I going to do with my baby? I want her little....~sigh~ I guess that I should be happy that she doesn't say that she wants to be 16 anymore, that was a tough one....

Some things~

- The spleen is gone! After a four hour surgery, blood transfusions, and some pain it is out and cancer free...Hooray~
- I have a new appreciation for RN's, CNA's and Surgeons. I thank them for being so knowledgeable in there jobs.
- I missed my kids.
- I love my husband.
- I have very good people around me.
- I'm thankful for family, I'm so lucky!
- It's nice to be home.
- Mom, "you walk really slow now" (Dylan)
- There is a lot of junk on TV
- You can't read, when you are on pain medicine.
- I love the smell of lily's.
- It's amazing how good a shower feels.
- Mom, "why is your belly button squished? (Sophie)
- I love this gospel and the power of prayers.
- I loved taking the sacrament in the hospital. What a neat experience.
- I have a new company in the house (thanks to Dylan, that little business man) it's called Paper Works City. For all of my paper and office supply needs. I have had several things delivered that he thought I needed, CD cover, 6 elastics, and 5 pieces of paper. I think that I could use all of those in bed don't you?
- I got to play Pet shops with Sophie uninterrupted for an hour.
- Mom, "what kind of saw did they used on ya?" (Dylan)
- Life is calm and life is good~

Here it goes~

Ohh, the time is getting near.
My spleen will be removed on Friday.
Everyone has been asking me are you ready?
Ready? For what? I think I'm prepared. My kids will be taken care of thanks to Grannie and Lynnie, I have stocked the fridge, I have dusted the things that don't get dusted very often.
(ie: the fans, the base boards, the lights, I thought if I'm laid up for a couple of days these things would drive me insane to look at.)
After many tests and lots of my blood taken, my doctor thinks if the spleen comes out I will feel better. The funny thing is it doesn't hurt and I feel fine. I am getting sick more often, but next to having RA (I wish they could remove that from my body!) it's a walk in the park. The doctor also told me that I will have more energy because apparently I'm anemic too. I thought that tending 7 kids plus my two was the reason for my ability to fall asleep within 15 seconds of my head hitting the pillow. Well the countdown has begun, wish me luck!
